Where does my money go?

All of the gifts on our website are real and each are provided on a regular basis and are key elements of the work of Project SIerra: A Family And A Future.

Hope and Homes for Children tailors all its work very closely around the actual needs of children and families on an individual basis, taking care to listen to them, assess their situation thoroughly and respond in the way that suits their needs best. We have chosen these gifts because they are regular and critical elements of the total package of support we are providing and will continue to provide within Project SIerra until and beyond Autumn 2011.

There may be exceptions though. As our work is tailored around each individual’s situation (and their developing needs over several months) this means there will be times when it would not make sense to provide the exact gifts chosen by supporters. For example, if a supporter selects a new school uniform for a child or young person, but at the time of purchase the families on our programmes need help with school fees, then this is what we will spend your gift on in order to help families most effectively.

We want our support to respond to real needs and priorities, in real time and so we ask our supporters to trust us to spend their money where it will have the most impact upon the children and families in Project SIerra. This trust allows us to ensure your money is used as effectively as possible to transform the lives of vulnerable children and families in Sierra Leone.

Can you tell me if you are going to spend my money on a different gift to the one I originally chose?

Sadly, we are not able to report back to individuals in this way, as it would be complex and expensive to administer and would ultimately mean that far less of your donation would be spent on the children and families who need your help.
